I have been a member of QFAD since it's beginning in the Metro Detroit Area.

This charity keeps getting bigger and bigger, bringing smiles and comfort to children touched by cancer.  QFAD does not stop with the children we try to bring comfort and support to the parents and families  also.

If you know anyone who suffers from cancer child or adult contact the Metro Detroit QFAD, perhaps we can give some support.

Welcome to the Metro Detroit Chapter of Queen for a Day and Heroes-Michigan.

Queen for a Day (QFAD) and Heroes are national non-profit charities whose mission is to raise the self esteem and confidence of children 3-21 with cancer.

We do this through personal visits and group parties where we offer makeovers, crafts, manicures, games, temporary tattoos and entertainers. Girls receive boas and tiaras donated by beauty queens, boys receive fireman hats, and a badge. All children receive a keepsake photo and gift.

While Queen for a Day and Heroes primary focus is on children with cancer, all children that are patients at the time of our hospital visits, are invited to participate as we feel any child that is ill and a patient needs a bit of extra attention.

Participating Michigan hospitals: William Beaumont-Royal Oak, St. John Hospital-Grosse Pointe, Children’s Hospital of Michigan-Detroit, Mott Children’s Hospital–Ann Arbor and Hurley Hospital-Flint

Visits with children also take place at Camp Quality-Fenton, Camp Quality-Petoskey, Gilda’s Club-Royal Oak. QFAD also does individual visits for children at home or in the hospital.

A special thank you to our everday heroes that work to bring smiles to the children!
